According to Dr. Joe McCord of the University of Colorado’s Denver school of Medicine research shows not all antioxidants are equal. Conventional antioxidant supplements (such as vitamins A, C and E) are known as consumable or direct antioxidants because they are used up as they neutralize free radicals on a one-to-one basis. Dr. McCord said, “Our research now has proven that we can turn on the cell’s own ability to produce the antioxidant enzymes to consume free radicals at thousands per second more than direct antioxidants.” According to Dr. McCord, “It is an indirect antioxidant formula that turns the cell at any age to that of a newborn.” According to the success of the research Mc Cord has been nominated for several Nobel awards over the last 40 years.
Dr. David Perlmutter a Neurologist and nationally recognized expert on antioxidants recently stated,” The fundamental role of antioxidants in maintaining and enhancing health is now well established. While the general public may not be familiar with glutathione, catalase or SOD, these are among the most important protective antioxidants in human physiology. And it is precisely these antioxidants that are remarkably increased by a revolutionary supplement called Protandim.”
Protandim was developed by Dr. McCord and has acquired two U.S. patents on what he calls the recipe. “The ingredients are found in nature but the formulation is unique and this is what we have done all the testing on,” stated McCord. Dr. Perlmutter who recently joined Dr. McCord’s research team stated why he aligned with McCord’s group. “While various products appear in the marketplace claiming some level of antioxidant activity, Protandim is unique in having extensive scientific validation published in our most well respected, peer reviewed journals. This is the kind of substantiation I require both as a researcher and practicing physician.”
According to Perlmutter, “Protandim has wide clinical application across the entire spectrum of medical issues as well as health maintenance and longevity enhancement, and this explains why so many of our most prestigious medical institutions have chosen to study this product.” For more on these studies and an ABC Primetime video on Dr. McCord’s research with Protandim go to the links associated with this article.
Interesting- I am familiar with glutathione with relation to aging, but I’ve never heard of Protandim. Guess it’s time to do a little research. 🙂
